01:57Z 70 AL Talladega Talladega An apparent downburst caused an swath of intense damage across the southern portion of the city of Talladega. Around 100 trees were blown down, with some of them falling onto homes causing varying degrees of damage. In addition, hundreds of limbs were broken off, many of them also large enough to cause damage to homes as they fell. Structural damage not the result of falling trees or limbs was confined to outbuildings containing lumber at a hardware store. The total damage swath was more than 2.5 miles long, and up to 100 yards wide, with peak wind gusts estimated around 80 mph.

The strongest winds occurred along Johnson Street between 48th and 32 Avenues where a barn was damaged, five houses suffered loss of shingles (less than 5%), and numerous trees were uprooted or snapped. Large broken limbs and uprooted trees were observed as far west as Lenard Street and 76 Avenue. Similar damage occurred to the east-northeast through Marne, MI and then into Alpine Township in Kent County.||The wind damage was associated with the transition of an HP Supercell into a bowing thunderstorm line segment.

A semi tanker trailer was pushed over on its side. A large grain bin under construction was knocked off its foundation. Damage to the grain bin itself was estimated at $750,000.
