21:18Z 131 OK Canadian El Reno The highest wind gust ever recorded at an Oklahoma Mesonet site was measured near El Reno, as an EF-5 tornado tore a path through Canadian county. The wind speed increased from 61 mph at 1618 CDT, to 66 mph at 1619 CDT, to 131 mph at 1620 CDT, to 151 at 1621 CDT, and then to 91 mph at 1622 CDT. The tornado caused considerable damage to the area surrounding the Mesonet as it moved northeast.

00:33Z 65 TX Parker La Junta A NWS Storm Survey determined that straight-line winds damaged the gas pump canopy at the Allsup's on Highway 199 west of Azle. Part of the cover was peeled off. Large tree branches were also knocked down in the same area. The strong winds continued east into Azle where more damage occurred. The Popcorn Players' theater, Josefina's Kitchen restaurant, and the Aqualine Pools building in Azle were damaged. Air conditioning units were moved on all the roofs. Part of the metal roof of the theater was peeled off and hit the back of a pickup truck.

These strong winds damaged several business signs and the roof of a commercial building at Loop 820 and Rufe Snow Drive. Several large trees and power poles were also knocked down along Rufe Snow Drive north of Loop 820. In the neighborhood around Richland Hills High School, many large tree limbs were broken, a few power poles were leaning about 20 degrees, and some trees were either split or knocked down. One tree fell on a house and damaged the roof.

Power lines were also knocked down, and a man died of electrocution from the fallen power lines. It is believed he went outside after the storm had passed and was electrocuted by the power line laying on the ground, possibly hidden under a fallen tree branch or leaves.
